Taoism

Taoism, as both philosophy and religion was founded 2500 years ago in China, by Lao Tzu. Taoist altars are put together to honor traditional deities and the spirits of ancestors. Taoist altars can be in temples build in temples or homes. In certain days people sacrifice food such as slaughtered pigs, dukes, or fruit to the gods and or spirits of the departed. Hell Bank notes is also another form of sacrifice, involving burning. The burning will not represent a mere image but instead an actual item in the spirit world and will be useful for the spirits. Chickens, pig feet, and pig heads are also offerings.
