Bizarre Ritual in India

This really bizarre ritual is about the birth of their children. This ritual is located in the Maharashtra state of India, at the Muslim shrine. Here, at the Muslim shrine, it is the peoples’ common practice to toss their newborn babies off the side of a 15-meter tall temple. This specific ritual has been observed for half a millennium. By throwing their newborn babies, this is suppose to strengthen the children and praise them with good luck throughout and into adulthood as well as grant them “courage and intelligence.” The newborn babies do not fall to the ground to their deaths, instead they are caught by followers who are standing near by to catch them with grand sheets.
