"Celebration of the physical world..." David MacDonald

I was reading chapter 12 and read the profile by David MacDonald, the ceramicist, and was struck by what he had said about his work, and it resonated with me. He said, regarding making functional art in clay, "When a teapot has just the right weight, balance, and proportions, it makes the act of pouring tea a celebration of the physical world." To some it may seem such a simple statement, but to me it embodies what art is - something that has weight, balance, proportion (key elements) - but then it causes me to "celebrate" the art and what it states. Celebrate the act of art, the freedom to create art, and the joy of being able to share art with others - our physical world and too our imagined world. It makes for a great cup of tea. Lisa
