Some interesting artist examples of altered books

  2. I really liked the top one that looks like a planter with grass growing out of it. It really seemed kind of Japanese- like the little miniature rock gardens or the bonsai trees. I'm glad you liked them. I thought it might be helpful and they are just really great works of art.

  3. It's a concept I had never heard of before. Some of the examples I have seen I have a hard time really appreciating, because they don't have enough intrigue, to me, to be able to be captivating and no obvious moral/meaning, which is some thing that is HUGE to me in art. But a lot of these examples are just so extraordinarily complex you feel like you could stare for hours!

  4. I agree. And I agree with your feelings on moral meaning in art. I think that there is also a sense of moral responsibility in altering these books. I feel the respect for books is far gone and it saddens me when I find them in the trash instead of donated. My book that I am working on was just that a tossed away book in the garbage. So I am giving it a new life- hopefully a proud one. :-)
