Newspaper Design

These dresses are made entirely out of newspaper. The pictures here are from an episode of Project Runway. Many designers (and non-designers) are creating newspaper dresses as a challenge; a quick Google search turns up tons of patterns for people wanting to make their own attempt, but I don't think anyone is serious about mass producing them. Realistically, the dress isn't going to hold up to much abuse, and would create a CR nightmare for the manufacturer. On the other hand, newspaper purses, which I view as a sort of derivative of the dresses, are easy to find in shops. The advantage with the purses (aside from fewer materials, simpler design) is that it's easy to apply a laminate, which makes the purse more durable and waterproof.
This one is by Ecoist (http://www.ecoist.com), a company devoted to making handbags from found materials such as newspapers, magazines, and candy wrappers. They call their design process "upcycling", because instead of just reusing the materials for their original purpose, they're turning them into something better.
