Kamidana
Kamidana is a household altar dedicated to Shinto gods. The altars are very small and are placed high on a shelf. Daily offerings such as sake or rice are made for good luck or protection. The items included on the altar are evergreen plants , pottery jars, a wooden plinth used for the offering, and wooden lamps serving as models for the stone lamps in shriens. The altar does not have representations of the gods because they are suppose to be behind closed doors.
