Linear, Planar, and Volumetric Buildings

This is Miller Park, in Milwaukee, WI. It is a volumetric building. The shape of the building is pushed out and reflects the fact that it holds a baseball field. The arches at the top give it some visual appeal and also had the the volume of the building.

This is just an empty shopping complex by my house. It is an example of a planar building. It has several planes that project from the building, including the entry awning and the roof. Also the columns are capped with planes.

This is the Bally's Building in Las Vegas, Nevada. I took this picture a few years ago, but I think it is a great example of a linear building. It has the blue horizontal lines that wrap around it. Another linear element are the vertical strips of windows.
